Daniel Maskit has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Caltech, and a B.A. in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College, and did postdocs at MIT and Stanford. Since leaving academia he spent two decades in the world of high-end visual effects for feature films, and remains an active member of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). Daniel is currently at Meta where he seeks to shape the future of the Metaverse.
Daniel is proudly Autistic and is involved in advocacy work around making workplaces, and broader society, better at harnessing the strengths of neurodivergent people. His TED talk is changing people’s understanding of what it means to be autistic. Daniel is an avid runner of marathons and ultramarathons. He is obsessed with bears and has spent time visiting both black bears in Northern Minnesota, and polar bears in Svalbard, Arctic Norway.
