Fund Overview
AiiM Partners is an early growth fund targeting a $17 trillion market opportunity across four key sectors-- data & digitization, energy transition, alternative materials, and ag & food systems. They focus on high impact solutions in traditionally-overlooked climate sectors that are at an inflection point and poised for disruption and growth. Investee companies have cross-cutting, differentiated technologies, strong market traction with the potential to meaningfully contribute to both quantifiable emissions reductions and social equity (across race, gender, ethnicity, and quality jobs).
AiiM’s diverse, women and minority-led team, has worked together on average over seven years and comprises investors, entrepreneurs, operators, scientists and industry experts each with over 20 years of experience. The fund leads and co-leads rounds and is actively engaged with the portfolio to steward them toward their financial and impact targets.
Why We Invested
As a leading climate technology fund that is focused on stewarding women into leadership roles, AiiM is a fantastic example of what is possible when it comes to integrating a climate and gender investment thesis. Thanks to their unique approach to mapping the climate ecosystem, as well as their focus on creating quality jobs and driving systemic change from the ground up, they are helping to create opportunities for women at every point along the climate value chain. We are thrilled to be able to amplify their work in this space, and to partner with the team to share these best practices and tools with other funds and investors looking to follow their lead.
Women as Agents of Change
AiiM uses an integrated gender and climate lens at every level of their investment process. This includes their opportunity mapping and investment theme identification, where they evaluate both the risks to and impact on women, as well as the opportunity for women’s economic empowerment and women to be agents of change.
When looking at soil health, for example, one of their considerations is the fact that 74% of fertilizer is used by women, but no one is proactively engaging them around solutions. As a result, women in this sector are experiencing health issues, including high rates of birth defects. AiiM has identified this as a key opportunity to engage women in climate solutions, and they are actively looking for investment opportunities that take this into account.
